ABOUT ZOGHOGG STUDIOS
Zoghogg Studios is a Scottish impact-led film studio specialising in cinematic storytelling for social impact, prevention and culture.
We work with organisations, charities, public bodies and purposeful brands who understand that the right film, made the right way, can shift perspectives, change behaviour and create lasting impact. We don't make films about communities. We make films with them - and that distinction changes everything.
Our work spans prevention campaigns, educational films, documentary storytelling and narrative cinema. Every project we take on shares the same foundation - authenticity, lived experience and genuine community connection.
We don't parachute in. We listen, we build trust, and we create from the inside out. That's why the institutions and organisations we work with keep coming back.
What We Do
Prevention Film - Hard-hitting, authentic films designed to create meaningful discussion and drive real behavioural change around issues including financial exploitation, knife crime, addiction, gambling harm and mental health.
Education & Pathways - Professional film education delivered in partnership with councils and public bodies, opening doors into the creative industries for people who face real barriers to entry.
Narrative Cinema - Ambitious, visually powerful feature films and documentaries that tell stories the world needs to hear. Made independently. Distributed internationally.
Our Ecosystem
Zoghogg Studios operates alongside two connected initiatives:
Film Education Dunfermline (FED) - delivering professional film academies in partnership with Fife Council, working directly with people facing significant barriers to employment.
ERA - a social impact CIC using cinematic storytelling, education and community engagement to address complex social issues affecting young people. ERA brings together experienced filmmakers, youth engagement professionals, educators and charity partners to develop prevention-focused film projects with national reach.
Together, Zoghogg, FED and ERA form a creative ecosystem built around one belief - that storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have for understanding each other and changing the world we live in.
ABOUT DAVID IZATT
I'm David Izatt - filmmaker, creative director and founder of Zoghogg Studios, based in Scotland.
My work sits at the intersection of cinematic storytelling, social impact and prevention - creating films that engage audiences emotionally while driving meaningful conversation around the issues that matter most.
I directed and produced Tapped, a prevention film commissioned by the Scottish Illegal Money Lending Unit in partnership with Fife Council, YouthLink Scotland, Kingdom Community Bank and Fife Voluntary Action - now in active use across schools, youth groups and community settings throughout Scotland.
As founder of Film Education Dunfermline (FED), I have delivered film academies for Fife Council's employability teams, working directly with people facing significant barriers to employment, including those living with disabilities.
I am co-founder of ERA, a social impact CIC using cinematic storytelling and community engagement to address complex social issues affecting young people - developing prevention-focused projects around knife crime, gambling harm, exploitation, addiction and mental health.
As a feature filmmaker, my directing credits include Skinjacker - winner of 19 international awards, streaming across more than 20 territories worldwide including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Plex - and A Christmas Carol, featuring an original score by Roger Taylor and starring Bonnie Wright, distributed internationally on Amazon Prime.
As Cinematographer and Producer on Plan Z - made on a budget of £5,000 - I helped deliver a film that secured a UK-wide theatrical run through Cineworld cinemas, international distribution on Netflix and an NFA (National Film Award) for Best Thriller.
With a directing and producing career spanning twenty years, my credits include more than a dozen short films and features across drama, horror and social impact filmmaking.
I served as EPK Producer and Official Photographer on Tomorrow, a feature exec-produced by Martin Scorsese, and as editor on The Goodfather, a documentary exploring the humanitarian work of Father Joe Maier at Bangkok's Mercy Centre.
My work has taken me across the UK, Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia.
I believe the most powerful stories are not only visually compelling - they are emotionally truthful. Whether working with communities, organisations or brands, the goal is always the same: to create work that people genuinely feel.
