Tapped

Tapped – A New Youth-Led Film Shining a Light on Illegal Money Lending

We’re excited to announce Tapped, a bold new short film created through Film Education Dunfermline in collaboration with Kingdom Community Bank, Fife Voluntary Action, Youth Space Fife, and the Scottish Illegal Money Lending Unit has completed filming - woo hoo!

At just 15 minutes long (depending on how the edit goes), Tapped packs an emotional punch, weaving together five interconnected stories that explore how illegal money lending quietly affects everyday people in our communities.

The film follows a middle-aged man on the brink of despair, a young mother struggling to provide, a teenager caught up in debt-fuelled pressure and a community worker facing her own family’s financial scars - all linked by the charismatic but predatory illegal lender who moves effortlessly between their lives. The narrative shows how easily financial vulnerability can escalate, but also how reaching out for support can change everything.

What makes Tapped especially unique is that it’s youth-led. Young people have shaped the story, worked behind the camera and learned professional filmmaking skills throughout the project with experienced filmmakers David Izatt and Adam Stanley leading the project alongside Scott Morgan. Their voices, insights and creativity help drive every frame, ensuring authenticity and impact.

With its grounded realism and strong social message, Tapped aims not just to entertain but to spark conversations, raise awareness, and encourage people to seek help if they find themselves in similar situations. We can’t wait to share it with audiences soon.

If you'd like to learn more about the project or get involved with future films, keep an eye on our updates - there’s much more to come.
